Gippsland’s reputation for ‘getting on with it’ was on full display at the Gippsland New Energy Conference (GNEC) 2026.
Conversations about Gippsland’s role and progress in the energy transition were lively, informed and inclusive of everyone – with more than 800 industry, government, and community representatives from the region and beyond converging on Traralgon for the event.
The conference again reinforced its reputation as being an experience like no other. From the army of volunteers who make the event a seamless experience for delegates and speakers alike; to the carefully curated program; the thoughtfully sourced catering; and commitment to sustainability – the event is unique in the way it is delivered with genuine care, enthusiasm and honesty.
Ørsted’s contribution to the program included:
- A panel discussion on ways to translate good intent in social procurement policy into practical outcomes for projects
- Partnering with Traditional Owners in the energy transition
- A panel with other offshore wind developers discussing progress on development of the offshore wind industry
Grimsby to Gippsland – sharing lessons learnt
“I’m so impressed by the conversations that I have heard… you’ve got everyone in one place having really insightful conversations that are honest, transparent and ambitious…”The highlight for the Ørsted team was hosting our colleague Lauren Little from our UK offshore wind projects. Lauren spoke about her experience growing up in Grimsby, traditionally a fishing port and heavy industry region, and her reflections on how it is transitioning to one of the largest offshore wind hubs in the world providing jobs, skills development, supply chain opportunities, and investment in the region.
