Ørsted has a strong global track record of investing in local industry, developing skilled workforces, and creating long-term economic value wherever we build renewable energy projects. Across markets such as the UK, Taiwan, and the US, we’ve worked with local suppliers across the full project lifecycle, from fabrication and construction through to long-term operations and maintenance.

In Australia, our ambition is the same. We’re committed to developing an offshore wind supply chain that helps local companies build capability and benefit from long-term opportunities.

Our commitment to local industry

Long-term partnerships

We value long-term relationships with suppliers and are committed to operating in Australia across the full lifecycle of our projects. Local suppliers play an important role in delivering and sustaining major energy infrastructure.

Local jobs and economic participation

We want the benefits of offshore wind to support Australian communities. We aim to prioritise local employment, create pathways for First Nations participation, and invest in upskilling and workforce development as part of a just transition to clean energy.

Working respectfully with Traditional Owners

We engage early and consistently with Traditional Owner groups. We seek to align project development with cultural values and aspirations, and to support shared benefits, including opportunities for economic participation across the supply chain.

A local supply chain with global reach

We support Australian based companies to compete for work on our local projects and to build capabilities that may also be relevant across Ørsted’s global portfolio. As Australia’s offshore wind industry grows, so do opportunities to export expertise to other markets.

Net-positive biodiversity impact

We aim to develop projects responsibly and with a strong focus on protecting and enhancing nature, including through measures that support positive outcomes for biodiversity.

Engaging with Ørsted: How suppliers can get involved

1. Participate in market engagement events

We take part in regional supplier and stakeholder events to engage with potential suppliers and better understand local capability. As our project progresses, we’ll also host supplier information sessions to connect Victorian companies with upcoming opportunities, including through engagement with Tier 1 contractors. These sessions help make opportunities more visible and accessible and support the development of a strong, competitive local supply chain.
