Ørsted is ready to partner with Gippsland to unlock the power of offshore wind, working closely with local communities and Traditional Owners to position the region as a clean energy powerhouse

Around the world, as well as providing reliable clean energy, our projects have breathed new life into local communities through investment in local facilities, economic development, high-skilled jobs and more.

Listening to Gippsland communities

We build, own, and operate our projects which means we will be part of the Gippsland community over the entire lifetime of the wind farm.

As well as being a good neighbour, we will rely on the local workforce to operate our wind farms for decades so we are committed to developing local expertise and building strong ties with regional businesses to support our day-to-day operations.

We know that building local support requires time, a transparent and fair approach, and a commitment to listening first so that we understand community priorities and aspirations. By doing this, we can deliver the best outcomes for Gippsland as the Australian offshore wind industry develops.

Since 2023, after the Australian Government declared the Gippsland offshore wind area, we’ve been listening to what matters to Gippsland communities and deepening our understanding of Traditional Owners' values and aspirations.

We’re also focussed on finding ways to make it easier for people to learn more about offshore wind. At the same time, we’re mindful that local communities can feel overwhelmed by the significant industry-related activity currently occurring.

Gippsland Offshore Wind Day at Port Albert, March 2025

The ongoing Gippsland Offshore Wind Days which are being held in towns across Gippsland allow locals to speak directly to developers and Victorian and Commonwealth government representatives in-person.

We’re also attending careers events and will continue to have conversations directly with other groups and individuals who are interested and involved in the development of offshore wind.
