Connecting communities with the future of offshore wind

It’s been a busy few months for the Ørsted Australia team. We’ve been out and about connecting with communities across Gippsland, chatting to students in South Gippsland and participating in the latest round of Offshore Wind Days held in Toora, Loch Sport, and Woodside.

More than 700 South Gippsland students gathered at the South Gippsland and Bass Coast Local Learning and Employment Network (SGBCLLEN) Careers Expo. The event aimed to connect students with employers and training providers, and help them learn more about career pathways they may never have otherwise considered.

Lots of students spoke to us eager to learn more about offshore wind and how it might be part of their future career aspirations. Using an air cannon, they also had a chance to explore how moving air can be controlled and used to transfer energy – the same principle that enables turbines to capture wind and generate clean electricity.

In July, we joined other developers, government departments, and agencies at the third round of Offshore Wind Days in Toora, Loch Sport, and Woodside.

The events gave community members a chance to meet the people behind the projects, ask questions, and hear about how offshore wind could support the region’s long-term future. Attendees were curious to understand what the projects could mean for local jobs, the environment, and Gippsland’s role in Victoria’s clean energy transition.

Thank you to those who stopped by the Ørsted stand. Your questions, feedback, and local knowledge are helping to shape how we plan and deliver our projects.

We will continue to keep you informed and involved as our projects progress.
